Supporting the Food Industry During COVID-19 Crisis Through Petition Campaign
Upon hearing rumors that a nationwide closure request would be issued to restaurants as COVID-19 spread, we thought, “If forced to close, some establishments will go out of business… we must do something.” We initiated a signature campaign together with Michelin three-star chefs, using our office as headquarters while disseminating information and collecting signatures daily. Over three months, we gathered 170,000 signatures nationwide. Using this as leverage, we negotiated with local and national government bodies, ultimately securing compensation from the government for restaurants (covering both rent and employee salaries).
