Japanese Knife Exports

Bringing Japanese Craftsmanship to the World Stage

When a popular New York knife craftsman with a waiting list approached us saying, “I want to learn about Japanese knives,” we saw an opportunity for Japan and planned a training program in knife-producing regions. The business began with learning techniques at Japanese knife manufacturing sites and building relationships with craftsmen. After returning to New York and applying what he learned to his own knife making, he maintained communication with Japanese craftsmen and inquired about potential collaboration. On his second visit to Japan, he demonstrated New York craftsmanship techniques, which Japanese craftsmen welcomed with comments like “Eye-opening manufacturing methods” and “Wonderful sense that we don’t have.” This led to a collaboration agreement to create double-branded knives for the Christmas season. We secured export channels and began pre-orders in New York, which sold out in just three days. We successfully established a relationship for continued sales thereafter.
